Shipment Arrives

Our household was packed up in Hong Kong on June 6 & 7. It left HK on June 14. From there, it journeyed to Seattle, WA, then Portland, OR. It came to Eugene, OR, where a moving company had to unpack the container in order to get it all up our long, steep, country driveway. Happily, we were well organized and ready to receive it. We knew where we wanted each box placed, and which ones should be unpacked by the movers. We ended up saving them 90 minutes, and by the end, they drove off happily for a long lunch break.

The first several weeks we cleaned, painted, did yard work, unpacked boxes, shopped, researched products online, and stopped occasionally to visit with friends. One of the major factors easing our return to the US after living overseas for 19 years has been coming back to a town and community we love, and a state where we have some of our closest friends.

Washed with Murphy's Oil Soap and rubbed with tung oil, our bed and chair perked right up.

Original bamboo blinds were in bad repair.

Dirty walls!

Friends had used and cared for our oak dining table while we were gone. It was great to see it back, and in such fine shape! Those counter stools stayed through all the renters. Those needed some cleaning and oiling, but we'll need to do some work on the swivel mechanisms. That can wait!
